Trailers: Week commencing Monday 5th May

Check out what we have lined up for you this week at The Picturehouse, Aberystwyth!

Friended To Death - Monday 5th, 7pm

On Monday we have an early release with Sarah Smick's (Here's the Kicker) "Friended to Death", a dark comedy about a social media junkie who fakes his own death via social media just to see which of his "friends" will show up to the funeral.

Lila Lila - Tuesday 6th, 7pm

Lila Lila, or "My Words, My Lies" is a german language film centered around the hopeless character of David Kern played by Daniel Brühl (Rush, Inglorious Basterds) as he, a waiter, finds an unpublished manuscript in a dresser drawer. To impress a girl, he claims to be the author. When the novel becomes a best-seller the real author introduces himself in his life and begins to take-over David's life. Released in 2009, this german comedy is sure to light up your Tuesday evening. A cracking choice as our foreign language blast from the past this week.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa - Wednesday 7th, 7pm (15)

For our Wednesday offering, we know you're going to want something anyone can go to and enjoy thoroughly. From our last batch of films, there's only one film we ever had in mind, and only one we've had requested to show again and again. When famous DJ Alan Partridge's radio station is taken over by a new media conglomerate, it sets in motion a chain of events which see Alan having to work with the police to defuse a potentially violent siege. Grab your finest cardigan, sit back and enjoy.

Road To The Open - Thursday 8th, 2.30pm (12A)

Our twice daily showings this week begin with "Road To The Open" in which a man helps his best friend and tennis partner out of a desperate rut in life through a long shot attempt at an international tennis tournament, The Open. One we couldn't quite fit into our busy March schedule but having seen it, know that it's a great feel good film to get through your system. If you haven't seen anything from Cole Claassen before, you're more than welcome.

Cuban Fury - Thursday 8th, 7pm (15)

Nick Frost (Hot Fuss, The World's End, Attack The Block) and Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaid's, FAQ's About Time Travel) battle it out in this salsa driven comedy about love, diet and dancing. It's a no brainer.

Locke - Friday 9th, 2.30pm (15)

Ivan Locke, a dedicated family man and successful construction manager, receives a phone call on the eve of the biggest challenge of his career that sets in motion a series of events that threaten his careful cultivated existance. Starring Tom Hardy (Bronson, The Dark Knight Rises) and an up and coming Olivia Coleman (Broadchurch, Hot Fuzz), the acting is not to be missed.

Dom Hemmingway - Friday 9th, 7pm (15)

After spending 12 years in prison for keeping his mouth shut, notorious safe-cracker Dom Hemingway is back on the streets of London looking to collect what he's owed. Jude Law ef's and blind'ss his way through this darkly hilarious latest offering from Richard Shephered (The Hunting Party).

The Raid - Saturday 10th, 2.30pm (18)

To celebrate the release of "The Raid II: Berendal", we're showing the fantastic prequel and sequel in tandem to end the week. Fast paced action, some of the best martial arts and stunts you'll see this year, one film after another. It's a duo not to be missed. In the first installment a S.W.A.T. team becomes trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs.

The Raid 2: Berendal - Saturday 10th, 7pm (18)

In the second, and high budgeted set only a short time after the first Rama goes undercover with the thugs of Jakarta and plans to bring down the syndicate and uncover the corruption within his police force. Tickets on sale now.
